Sometimes something happens that gets under my skin. It happens. Normally it goes away after a while.
But sometimes it doesn't go away. And sometimes occurrences happen that inflame this annoyance, and it becomes a war. For me, I have just about had it with a particular bumpersticker/ad campaign.
Milk started it. Innocently enough, they created the unique "Got Milk?" campaign. Unique, a little creative, it was a very successful campaign. Not sure why they advertise, but that's not the point of the blog. This campaign was successful enough that a number of non-creative advertising people stole it. "Got Burrito?" "Got Music?" was the new catchphrase, just insert your product for the second word, and voila, a new campaign was born.
Well now it is 2008. And I still see bumperstickers. And I want to run these people off the road. "Got Sand?" Well I don't have sand, did you need some? I've started pulling up to people at lights now, answering their question. "No I don't have any sand!!! Did you need some???? They have a bunch at the beach, but I don't think you can take it. Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have any!" Just yell it at them.
Today I saw "Got Groceries?" What??? I don't know what possesses people to:
1) create new stickers with new nouns for the second word.
2) say to themselves, "Wow, 'Got Groceries?'! I've been waiting for that one to come out, I must buy it and immediately paste it on my truck..."
I saw "Got Ammo?" the other day too. I'll let that one slide.
